How to choose a ceiling lamp

In the dining room, a pendant should hang about 70-80 cm above the table and measure roughly half to two thirds of its width. Over islands and counters, several pendants in a row spread the light better. In living rooms and bedrooms, a flush mount or a large-diameter lamp provides general light.

Materials that filter the light

Rattan, natural fibre or rope shades create a cosy play of light and shadow; metal directs the light downwards, ideal over a table; and glass adds lightness and reflections.

Ceiling height

With low ceilings, choose more compact models or flush mounts; with high ceilings, large lamps and long cables take centre stage. Check the diameter, height and adjustable cable length on each product page.
